Dr Scott Shone studied cell biology and neuroscience. He received his PhD in molecular microbiology and immunology from the John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Baltimore (2005).
He then went to study emerging infections (tick-borne pathogens) in an APHL/CDC funded programme at the New Jersey DHSS. Subsequently, he became involved in the NJ newborn screening programme, being responsible for method development and validation, overseeing personnel and finances.
Dr Shone received the Certificate of Recognition from the New Jersey Department of health (2012), has been invited to several high ranking scientific committees and (co-)authored a dozen peer reviewed papers.
During ISNS2016 Dr Shone received the Dussault Medal itself from ISNS President Dr Veronica Wiley, in the presence of Mrs Houria El Mouden (Bio-Rad).
