Jennifer Taylor

Recipient of the Jean Dussault Medal 2015

Dr. Jennifer Taylor received her PhD in Chemistry from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta (GA), USA.
In 2011, Dr. Taylor joined the Newborn Screening and Molecular Biology Branch at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), where she developed and produced quality control materials to examine Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID) assay performance in newborn screening laboratories worldwide. Additionally, she worked to develop and implement a successful proficiency testing program for laboratories that perform population-based screening for SCID. During her tenure at CDC, she assisted SCID screening site visits to state public health laboratories, to evaluate their assay validation and implementation procedures; her efforts enabled successful SCID newborn screening program implementation in various laboratories (Michigan, Virginia, and Georgia, among others).

Dr. Taylor also served as a contributor on a technical consensus guideline for the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI NBS06-A), has authored several peer-reviewed publications, and provided presentations to domestic and international scientific meetings.

Currently Dr. Taylor serves as Senior Research Analyst at RTI International, where she provides expert advice on laboratory methodology, assay validation and implementation of high-throughput newborn screening assays. Additionally, she works with the North Carolina State Laboratory of Public Health to implement newborn screening for SCID and Mucopolysaccharidosis type I.

During ISNS2016 Dr Taylor received the Dussault Medal itself from ISNS President Dr Veronica Wiley, in the presence of Mrs Houria El Mouden (Bio-Rad).
