Dr Scott Shone studied cell biology and neuroscience. He received his PhD in molecular microbiology and immunology from the John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Baltimore (2005).<\/p>

He then went to study emerging infections (tick-borne pathogens) in an APHL\/CDC funded programme at the New Jersey DHSS. Subsequently, he became involved in the NJ newborn screening programme, being responsible for method development and validation, overseeing personnel and finances.<\/p>

Dr Shone received the Certificate of Recognition from the New Jersey Department of health (2012), has been invited to several high ranking scientific committees and (co-)authored a dozen peer reviewed papers.<\/p>

During ISNS2016 Dr Shone received the Dussault Medal itself from ISNS President Dr Veronica Wiley, in the presence of Mrs Houria El Mouden (Bio-Rad).<\/p>
